Introduction
If we would start looking for one word, that is common to everyone, this word could be „to consume“, we have to acknowledge that we all are consumers and only by consuming we are able to exist. Our role ambivalent: on one hand we are the „victims“of the consumerist society, on the other – we are responsible individuals ready to accept the challenges of the consumer society. Which way to take – it is our choice.

We, partners of the Project EDUCON, want to suggest the guidelines for adult and consumer education in such areas which are poorly explained and lack adequate recommendations. While creating the main result of this Project – electronic book for consumers – it is very interesting to analyze and to compare the situations of the participating partners in their countries. Working on this project has gathered partners for different EU countries, who are representing various traditions and experiences due to which a dedicated working group of this Project has been created.
Our common efforts are directed towards the aim to facilitate the work of adult education in consumer education area. We hope that the electronic book will not only ease the solutions of consumer problems but will also open new possibilities for them with the help of IT to become deliberate and well knowing their rights.
WHAT IS THE EDUCON?
The fundamental theme of the EDUCON is Consumer Education. The purpose of the programme is to improve the quality of adult education and access to adult education. Learning is a process of active engagement with experience. It is what people do when they want to make sense of the world. It may involve an increase in skills, knowledge or understanding, a deepening of values or the capacity to reflect. Effective learning will lead to change, development and desire to learn more.
The general objective of the Lifelong Learning Programme as well as the project’s “Innovative Consumers' education – public information and awareness raising” (EDUCON) to contribute through lifelong learning to the development of the Community as an advanced knowledge-based society, with sustainable economic development, more and better jobs and greater social cohesion, while ensuring good protection of the environment for future generations. In particular, they aim to foster interchange, cooperation and mobility between education and training systems within the Community so that they become world quality reference.
By developing a partnership network we receive more opportunities to be heard and to broaden the scope of information, contacts, and areas of influence. Therefore, there is a higher probability that more effective safety of the community will be created. Partnership is the main relational aspect among organizations and encompasses cooperation in all areas, where both parties have enough competence.
Cooperation among NGOs is based on partnership and helps effectively implement interest representation and consumer education and training programs. All of the participating NGOs are interested in ensuring community informational well-being.
